The 30th Bali Art Festival 2008
Bali Art Festival is the yearly Balinese cultures performance festival that is held in Denpasar town. In this year, the festival will be executed 14 June 2008 until 12 July 2008. This event is supported by the Bali's Government and all regencies in this island. It is also participated by 17 provinces in Indonesia and 9 foreign countries to success this event which is opened on 14 June 2008 in Denpasar Bali. it is the 30 th festival event which takes the special topic of CITTA WRETTI NIRODHA that means self control to go to the balance and harmonious. As usual, the Balinese Art Festival is started by the cultures parade which is centralized in front Bajra Sandhi, the Balinese struggle monument in Denpasar Bali and follows with some activities like art competitions, exhibition and art performances.
Saraswati Day (Science Day)
Bali Island (Pulau Bali) is well known as an island of Hindu population which most every day the Hindu rituals are held in this island. There are several important day to be holiday in Bali which is based on the Balinese Hindu Calendar, like on 07 June 2008, the important day of science will be celebrated by the Balinese Hindu. All Balinese Hindu in particular the student will involve on this event which is executed at every school in Bali . Galungan and Kuningan Day
Galungan and Kuningan Day are the big holiday for Balinese Hindu to commemorate the victory day of Good (Dharma) against Bad (Adharma). On that day, all Hindu people do praying in the temple to request the blessing from the infinite of the prosperity for this world and all it components. These holidays are commemorated every six month based on Balinese calendar which is depend on the Wuku (week). 12000 delegates from all over the world will attend the biggest event in Bali on the last of this year. The UN Climate Change Conference 2007 will be executed at Bali International Convention Center – The Westin Resort, Nusa Dua Bali. World Class Tennis Tournament 2007 in Bali
The world class tennis tournament 2007 which is previously held by Wismilak and now the Commonwealth Bank has taken over this event. It will be executed in Grand Hyatt Bali, Nusa Dua in September 2007. The world's tennis player can confirmed to participate on this event like Davenport , Jelena Jankovic of Serbia , Slovakia 's Daniela Hantuchova and Swiss left-hander Patty Schnyder. Miss Universe 2007 Mr. Mori Riyo will visit Bali
Miss Universe 2007 Ms. Mori Riyo will visit Bali on 05 August 2007 and this is her first visit after appointed as a new Miss Universe for this year. During her visit to Bali, she will be hosted by one of the best spa in Bali – Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa as regular sponsorship of this event. She will be accompanied by Miss Indonesia to join some of the activities during visit this beautiful island. Like last year, Miss Universe 2006 – Ms. Zuleyka Rivera had visited the island on 27 August 2006 along with Miss Indonesia - Ms. Agni Pratistha. 29th Bali Art Festival 16 June - 14 July 2007
29th Bali of Art Festival will be opened by President Republic of Indonesia - Mr. Susilo Bambang Yodhoyono followed by thirteen thousand of actors/actress who are merged into 156 sekaa (Artist group) from entire of Bali . They will gradually present the art on the podium of Bali Art Festival. This Event is performed in Bali Art Center - Denpasar and the opening is executed in front of Bajra Sandi Monument . The 29th of Bali Art Festival in this year will be started from 16 June - 14 July 2007. During one month, the Balinese and tourists will be presented several of art like dances, gamelan traditional, song, games, traditional costume and others that are brought by the actor or actress from various area inclusive of outside Bali Island . The performance of this Bali Art Festival is expected to become the artistic strength resources and serve the august culture heritage .
Galungan and Kuningan Day
Galungan Day is a big holiday for Balinese Hindu in Bali where entire of the road in Bali are ornamented by Penjor (a bamboo is ornamented by young coconut leaf and other fruits sticking in each front of house) which are beautiful look to be. In this year, the Galungan day will be celebrated on 27 June 2007 where most of the Balinese Hindus are busy on their ritual. Many of temple festivals are executed on this day due to this day is a perfect day for the worship of to the infinite. Snowy Bali (Bali Bersalju)
Snowy Bali (Bali Bersalju) is a new recreation activity exists in Bali and it is a new breakthrough in creating place of recreation alternative. Melasti Ceremony / Parade Ceremony
Melasti Ceremony is one of the big Hindu rituals in Bali that involve all Balinese Hindu societies to join in parade to bring the god symbol to the sea. In this ceremony all the god symbols like Keris, Umbul – umbul or flag, harpoon, and god idol are carried and brought to sea to be cleaned or sanctified. According to the belief of Balinese resident, this object must be sanctified before the Balinese new year of Caka or Nyepi Day. This event regularly executed every one year in particular before the Nyepi Day. Ogoh – ogoh idol is a big giant idol symbolizing the bed influence destroys the world. In Bali, there are big event of the Ogoh – ogoh demonstrations that are executed throughout Bali Island in particular one day before the Nyepi Day or Silent day. This demonstration is involving all Balinese societies from children to the old man. This idols is carried to surround the village with Traditional Balinese gamelan that make this event is more hilarious .
